The Class Room

BELLHAUS ABC | Creative Class Flow

Our weekly art sessions are thoughtfully designed to spark creativity, build skills, and make learning an adventure. With small, intimate classroom sizes, our setting ensures each child receives personalised attention from myself and three dedicated helpers. Each class follows a steady, predictable flow so your child feels comfortable, engaged, and excited to dive in. Here’s a glimpse into a typical class:

1. Storytelling Session (20–25 minutes)

We gather on the carpet for a cosy floor time, immersing your child in the world of the week’s featured artist. Through vivid projections paired with mood-setting music or sounds, stories about the artist’s life, inspirations, and style come alive. This is followed by a lively group chat where kids ask questions and share their thoughts — nurturing curiosity and a genuine appreciation for art.

2. Snack & Handwashing Break (10 minutes)

Next, we enjoy a quick, healthy snack inspired by the colors or culture behind the artist’s work — think colorful fruit kabobs, shaped sourdough sandwiches, mango & berrie ice lollies or home made bannabread. Before and after snack time, children wash their hands thoroughly, keeping those creative fingers clean and ready for action.

3. Craft Adventure (1 hour)

This is the heart of the journey — a full hour where your child dives into hands-on mixed media projects inspired by the artist and the week’s theme. Using child-friendly materials and tools, kids are encouraged to experiment, express themselves, and bring their unique creative voices to life.

4. Clean-Up Time & Handwashing (10 minutes)

Once the creative dust settles, children work together to tidy their workspace — a fun, cooperative way to practice responsibility and respect. Following clean-up, another round of handwashing leaves little hands fresh and ready for the final circle.

5. Sharing Circle (10–15 minutes)

We close the session gathered in a circle, where each child has the chance to share their masterpiece and reflect on their experience. This moment fosters confidence, communication skills, and a joyful sense of accomplishment.

Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, and inspiring space where your child can explore art, express their unique self, and above all — have fun. We can’t wait to welcome your little artist to our next class!

The Classroom Experience

At BELLHAUS ABC Art School, the classroom is uniquely set inside a real working gallery — BELLHAUS Atelier & Galerie. This dynamic learning environment offers children a rare and inspiring opportunity to engage directly with contemporary art and creative processes in a vibrant cultural setting.

Immersive Art Environment

  • Surrounded by Exhibitions:
The classroom space is integrated within the gallery where rotating exhibitions feature a diverse range of artworks by local and international artists. Children are not confined to traditional classroom walls; instead, they learn amidst authentic, thought-provoking art pieces that spark curiosity and creativity.

  • Access to Original Artworks:
Students have the opportunity to see original paintings, sculptures, installations, and mixed media works up close. This firsthand exposure fosters a deeper appreciation of artistic techniques, styles, and materials, beyond what images or textbooks can provide.

Engaging Discussions and Critical Thinking

  • Interactive Art Talks:
Classes incorporate gallery discussions where children explore the themes, techniques, and stories behind the exhibited artworks. These conversations nurture critical thinking, art vocabulary, and visual literacy skills.

  • Artist & Curator Insights:
Whenever possible, students participate in special sessions with exhibiting artists or curators, gaining insight into the creative process, artistic decisions, and the cultural context of works. This direct dialogue helps demystify art-making and inspires young imaginations.

Creative Inspiration & Workshop Link

  • Hands-on Creativity Inspired by Exhibitions:
The proximity to diverse exhibitions informs the workshops’ curriculum. Projects often draw inspiration from current shows, encouraging children to experiment with techniques and concepts they observe in the gallery.

  • Real-World Artistic Atmosphere:
The active gallery setting cultivates a professional yet welcoming art-making atmosphere. Students sense the excitement of living art and see firsthand how creativity transforms spaces and communities.

By learning in the heart of a working art gallery, BELLHAUS ABC Art School offers a truly unique educational experience that inspires and nurtures young artists holistically — blending art appreciation, critical awareness, and hands-on creativity all under one roof.
